May 16, 2011

This Monday, May 16, RIPS will present our annual awards (a single award this year) at the Rock Island City Council meeting beginning at 6:45 pm.  In presenting the award, President Linda Anderson will also provide a brief review of our activities over the past 30 years - yes, RIPS is 30 years old this year.  The presentation is first on the agenda, so please be prompt.  City Hall is at 1528 Third Avenue and the council chambers are on the third floor.
Afterwards, we'll go to the basement conference room for social gathering and brief meeting as needed.  Please bring a snack to share.
Our informal meeting agenda can include updates any of the following topics, or others, as necessary:

Endangered buildings; Preservation projects

Neighborhood Partners -

Hauberg Walking Tour Booklet –.

Website & Transitioning-  Pete Cone, Diana Alm

Highland Park Tour –  REHEARSAL Sunday, May 15, at 6:30 for tour guides who wish to attend.

Also - the Scandinavian Fest at First Lutheran Church, 1600 20th Street, is taking place today (Saturday) and tomorrow, May 14 & 15 from 10 am to 3 pm.  It's all indoors this year, so don't let the damp weather deter you.  It's an enjoyable educational and fun experience for the entire family.
