This RIPS News issue focuses on the topic of epidemics and features the 1918 Flu epidemic especially as it affected Rock Island and the long term tuberculosis scare. Sadly, the buildings used to care for patients are no longer present but we can look back and appreciate the structures that met the needs of our community.
We are a city-wide organization in Rock Island, Illinois, that advocates for preservation of our built environment through public education, research of historic buildings and sites and registration of significant historical places with local, state and federal authorities.
